Online violence against girls and women must be acknowledged and prevented as a manifestation of the systemic marginalisation of women throughout society, by enhancing the use of and access to digital technologies, to promote women empowerment in digital skills.
Further, preventing violence against women from digital and online platforms has the net effect of strengthening freedom of expression as it creates an environment that allows the individuals, especially girls or women who face most discrimination in other public spaces, to participate through the use of media and digital technologies.
