Maybe that I was born in the most beautiful country, in the luckiest region. I had dreams. I succeeded. I took my studies in international relations at a prestigious university. I made many presentations during my studies, but just to my college students and a few faculty members. That was it... In line with my dreams, I took exams to become a government employee, passed and started my career as a young specialist with an international relations degree in a good institution in my city that I love very much.
But after a while, things changed. Unlike presentations I made at university, I was asked to make different presentations. Then these presentations turned into education. I started to give training to audiences I was not accustomed to in an area that I did not know at all. I was never trained for that; I was not a teacher. Yes, I did not know how to teach; I had no idea on how nor about how to address different audiences and reach their spirit. Moreover, I was a very young woman. During training, I had to wear the uniforms of the institution I worked for. I was not feeling well. But I had to give the best education. How is education best delivered? I did not have time to study about it!
I had to teach correct behaviours in disaster prevention and risk reduction to different target groups: children, mothers, the disabled, elderly, clergy, doctors, businessmen, convicts, refugees, and different educators. I had to coordinate the training rooms, the appropriate atmosphere, training strategies, and trainers suitable for the target groups. Yes, I am an international relations specialist, an idealist young woman. Now I am a good education specialist, the manager responsible for disaster education in my city. Despite all previous challenges, I am giving the best training. At the moment, I am improving myself by participating in projects focusing on education and training. |
