I am a 77-year-old housewife. I spent nearly 40 years of my life as a banker. During this period, I received a lot of training related to my profession. Maybe things were easier when I was younger. But now that I got older, I started to have difficulties in understanding the education that I received. And I hear very little now. But I still need training on some subjects. For this, I applied to a centre providing adult education. Some educational topics are really interesting, but some make me tired. I have a hard time understanding some of them because they contain a lot of technological information.
I think that, since the educators are young, they cannot understand why I do not understand the subject. Now, despite these setbacks, should I stop studying or should I continue relentlessly? So, if I keep going, will the educators be able to understand me? What if I said I heard little and/or that I could not keep up with technology; could they train me with more interest? Also, considering the conditions under which I worked during that time; if I told them that I used to be a very good banker and how well I could understand and apply everything, would their approach to me change?
Well, I want all of these to be taken into account when I am at an adult education training! I want to take my training in classrooms suitable for my age and physical characteristics. I want to meet educators who have developed their interpersonal skills enough to understand me. Am I asking too much to get a better education? Is there a book of what I am talking about? Is there a way that could both relax me and guide the trainers? So, no matter what happens, I will continue to study despite all these challenges. Learning has no age or limit. Life is a beautiful journey, the one that is worth living by continuously learning about and from life. |
