Education for peace programme fosters peaceful coexistence and a culture of peace by equipping young peacebuilders with the knowledge, skills, attitudes and values to resolve or transform conflicts non-violently and live in harmony with others. We apply non-formal education methods and techniques.
Peacebuilding and reconciliation We facilitate empowerment of young peacebuilders in post-conflict restoration and peacebuilding through the process of reconciliation. Young peacebuilders’ skills or experience must be used on the onset of any post-conflict restoration and peacebuilding processes to build community resilience and inclusive civic engagement. It also means civic participation of young women in post-conflict restoration or peacebuilding initiatives and their struggle for equal rights and opportunities. And as every conflict is unique and arises in a unique context, we build the capacity of youth organisations to adapt their interventions.
Media and information literacy Media and information literacy covers competencies and cognitive and digital skills that enable youth to critically and effectively maximise advantages and minimise harm of information in the digital landscape. We strengthen the skills and capacity of youth to use communication technology to seek, understand, appraise information and apply gained knowledge to make informed decisions or solve problems. Fostering peaceful coexistence and culture of peace means that youth have the capacity or skills to counter the circulated misinformation and disinformation born out of fear of racial, gender and cultural differences.
Prevention of radicalisation and extremism We integrate interventions aimed at preventing and countering radicalisation and violent extremism within youth work environment. These include training on creating, running, and evaluating counter-extremist narrative campaigns. Exploring how being exposed to hate speech is a risk factor for radicalisation or violent extremism among racial and gender minority youth. Or how being exposed to hate speech in a form of racist narratives is a risk factor for mental health struggles that contribute to vulnerability to radicalisation. And the role of information disorder in shaping and disseminating conspiracy narratives. |
