We published our last manuals under the Allegories on racism manifestation project. The manuals were developed based on inputs from narrative research. We believe that, by using insights from narrative research to create anti-racist educational resources, youth workers can tackle illiteracy surrounding racism and internalised racism. And by using such non-formal educational resources in youth work or school settings, we believe that racial and gender minority youth can learn how to deal with racism and undo the effects of internalised racism on their mental health and wellbeing.
The manuals seek to empower the racialised youth to build resistance and resilience to racism through artivism and storytelling techniques. To achieve their anti-racist education goal, the manuals draw inspiration from different historical eras that defined the Black identity and the Black experience, to our contemporary era where Black artivists continue to be at the forefront of racial justice movements.
