We published our first manuals under the Allegories on racism manifestation project. The manuals were developed based on inputs from narrative research. We believe that, by using insights from narrative research to create anti-racist non-formal educational resources, youth workers can tackle illiteracy surrounding racism and internalised racism. And by using such non-formal educational resources in youth work or school environments, we believe that racial and gender minority youth can learn how the manifestation of racism and internalised racism affects their mental health and wellbeing.
The manuals aim to ensure that placing racism within the human rights context of European societies takes a new path in public discourse: creating spaces for racialised youth to talk about and present their lived experiences. But here, we are not talking about racist events, we are rather shifting focus to racial and gender minority youth’s mental health and wellbeing.
