Project seeks to create pathways to empowerment in reconciliation for Rwandan youth. It focuses on truth telling, justice and healing among diverse ethnic groups. The Truth telling creates space for dialogue. Justice raises awareness on Genocide crimes committed by the current Rwanda regime to ensure that the perpetrators are held accountable. Healing calls on the rights to remember for all.
The project uses Empowerment of the Oppressed, which introduces the idea of developing a critical consciousness in the oppressed and the problem of the fear of freedom in the oppressor, who are both affected by being submerged in the situation of oppression. Thus, the oppressed must see outside themselves, and understand their situation; the ability to begin to think and embrace change.
Empowerment of the Oppressed, is a combination of philosophical, political and educational theory of an oppression and the source of liberation through non-formal learning and practices. The key to liberation is the awakening of critical awareness and the thinking process in the individual. This happens through learning activities that empowers the oppressed with skills to enter into a dialogue and begin the process of humanization through thoughts & actions. |
